It's still considered one of the safest states in the union, but Vermont might not feel that way to residents reading the headlines this summer.

Ginny Lyons is seeking re-election to the Vermont Senate, joining a crowded field that includes nine Democrats and just one Republican.

"She got all excited cause she's an autistic girl. And he didn't like that," eyewitness Chris Krapf said.
